Lou Duva Passes Away at Age 94

“You can sum up this sport in two words.. You never know.” -Lou Duva
Legendary trainer and manager Lou Duva passed away today in a Paterson, NJ hospital.
Any fan of boxing over the last few decades will be familar with Lou’s signature grimace in the corner of many boxing greats, from Meldrick Taylor to Evander Holyfield.
“I’m always going back to one thing…my family… It’s my family, my religion, my fighters. Put them in whatever order you want.” -Lou Duva
Lou handled 19 champions over the span of his hall of fame coaching career.
His crowning achievement likely being Pernell Whitaker who he, along with recently deceased co-trainer George Benton, grew into one of the greatest defensive fighters of our time.
Lou passed at the ripe, old age of 94.
“I love what I’m doing. It’s my life. When it’s time to go, I’ll probably be fighting to get out of the casket. I’ll be yelling at the priest instead of a referee.” -Lou Duva
