Floyd Mayweather Offers Conor McGregor $50 Million

According to TMZ, Floyd Mayweather has reportedly offered Conor McGregor $50 million for the proposed boxing bout.
Although a seemingly high number at first glance, considering Conor is thought to have ‘only’ made $10 million for his fight with Nate Diaz, the number does not reflect both fighters’ PPV selling power.
Floyd Mayweather, the king of selling s*** as steak, is most likely trying to rebound from from his dismal pay-per-view numbers following his long anticipated match up with Manny Pacquiao.
Even when comparing the numbers between boxing and UFC events, it becomes clear why Mayweather is in no rush to involve Dana White and the UFC in the McGregor negotiations. UFC 198, without the UFC’s biggest ppv attraction in Mcgregor, was said to do 1.5 million ppv buys while the biggest boxing event of the year, Canelo/Khan, did only close to 600k ppv buys, which is still more than Mayweather/Berto.
So for Floyd to get this fight done, whether he truly has a ‘master plan’ and works directly with McGregor or contacts the UFC brass to negotiate, he will most likely have to realize that boxing as a whole is the ‘B’ side and loosen up the purse strings.
