Over 100 Murders in Baltimore Before May

Hitting A New Low
Congratulations Baltimore, you have hit the century mark in record time! After a bloody Monday, we have officially hit over 100 murders in Baltimore City. April hasn’t even ended yet. This is a milestone that has not been achieved in 20 years. Although we have been very close.
There has been the usual talk about fixing this issue such as church involvement in the community, police intervention, and community dialogue. The propagandist report, also known as The Baltimore Sun, quoted Rev. Donte Hickman of Southern Baptist Church, as saying,
“We have to engage this community or it’s going to continue to be a bloodbath.”
and chief spokesperson for the Baltimore Police Department, TJ Smith as saying,
“We’re continuing to do everything we can to impact that number so it doesn’t continue to grow.”
Neither the church nor the police have any power to fix this problem beyond aggravating the issue. Neither the church nor the police create or interpret law, hand down sentencing, promote citywide economic stability, or control redlining practices.
No course of action will happen overnight but until there is an honest conversation about the cause of violence and effective action thereafter, unfortunately there will be blood. The 100 murders in Baltimore is just the beginning.
