5 Simple Steps to Boost Metabolism
How I Boost Metabolism After Fasting
A few years back, I began realizing I gained more weight after a fast than I lost. It stumped me for a while before I did my homework on the topic. It turns out that during normal fasting, your bodies metabolism slows down but it does not recover post-fast.
The metabolism slowing down was common knowledge for me but I was under the impression that the metabolism would rebound when I began eating food again.
I didn’t know anyone who fasted that would be concerned with the more than usual weight gain that came after. Or so I thought.
I mentioned my weight gain to a friend who body builds. She immediately recommended doing intermittent fasts with a round of push ups and sprints during breakfast time. I took the idea and applied it to a normal fast.
The results were amazing!
I lost nearly double the weight as I usually lost during fasting. More importantly though, I kept a lot of the weight off!
Over the years I’ve refined this method to suit my habits better by adding some weight lifting and interval running instead of pure sprints.
I came across the video linked below that highlights a few more ways to boost metabolism. I regularly do #2 – #5 while fasting with good results.
Now if I can only motivate myself to actually do these fasts.
Note: #4 Drinking green tea is crucial for me as it helps considerably with hunger pains. You can also substitute coffee as long as you are drinking a considerable amount of water to avoid dehydration. However, if you are someone who needs additives in their tea or coffee such as sugar or milk, I would skip this step, as it would be counterproductive.
Follow the steps outlined in the video below to boost metabolism. As with any exercise or dietary change, please check with your doctor first!
